Media Communications Coordinator
Hoopa Valley Tribal Administration
Full-time, regular. Salary; negotiable, DOE. Working in close conjunction with the Tribal Council, serves as advocate for fisheries and water-related issues. Duties include review of federal administrative proceedings(including federal hydropower licensing and water use contracting), on-going, past litigation and legislation, federal, state and intertribal policies affecting the quantity and quality of water in the Klamath-Trinity Basin. Develops, implements media strategy to best inform the Hoopa Tribal membership and general public of current events affecting the tribe's fishing and water rights. Manages media relations, researches editorial opportunities and builds relationships with key industry media to represent Hoopa Tribe's perspectives regarding water, and fisheries resources issues. analyzes and interprets complex socio-economic, scientific data and prepares written reports and drafts press releases in consultation with Fisheries Director and Tribal Council. Min. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field(i.e. environmental studies, political science, journalism or pre-law) AND, minimum of three(3) years demonstrated experience in environmental and natural resources reporting and media relations. AND, excellent research, communication, and writing skills. Experience with Web site development maintenance is highly desired. Extensive skill in written and oral communications sufficient to prepare written analyses and present oral briefings on technically complex environmental policy and technical data in an understandable manner. Valid CDL and insurability. Application and resume required.
