November is Violence Prevention Month - In honor of those who suffer from violent crimes, The Silent Witness Project was
on display at the Healing Breakfast.
The Silent Witness Project addresses the most extreme act of domestic violence, homicide. The life-sized silhouettes
represent local victims who have been killed in acts of domestic violence. In the last twenty-five years, more than
twenty-five women, children, men, and animals have died in domestic violence related homicides in Humboldt County.
On each silhouette is a paragraph that gives the person's name and explains what happened to them. The project is
designed to honor these victims and to recognize their loss to our community. For more information contact karen
