Wednesday, July 28, 2010: Paying the Price for Eagle Feathers: Two Yakama tribal members recently pleaded guilty to killing bald eagles and conspiring to sell bald and golden eagle feathers and parts, all violations of federal law. The men now face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. In Arizona three Hopi men were sentenced for killing and possessing a golden eagle. They claimed to be using the eagle for ceremonial purposes and were handed a $500 fine and two years probation. Does intent, within the act of killing a protected eagle, warrant different punishments? Guests TBA. To participate call 1-800-996-2848 |
